The MBacc provides exceptional graduate outcomes that ensure college readiness and preparation. Students graduate from MBacc programs with an advantage in university admissions. Beyond admissions, the MBacc gives students a foundation for success in post-secondary education that they would not otherwise gain with standards-based curriculum and traditional standardized admissions tests alone.
#costsandbenefits
consider different types of costs and benefits for stakeholders.
Infrequent, high-stakes exams have been repeatedly shown to be poor indicators of actual learning. Students benefit from regular, low-stakes informal feedback and formal assessments grounded in clear learning outcomes.
The advanced learning environment and proven instructional practices integrate coursework with ongoing measurement across a specific set of learning outcomes.
By tracking student participation, performance, and progress on a detailed level, and over time, the MBacc offers greater insight into each student’s intellectual development.
#patterns
Identify and analyze recurring patterns and themes.
All MBacc courses employ a systematic approach to assessment. The core of this approach is the articulation of clear learning outcomes for each course, and the use of clear scoring rubrics that both the students and instructors can see. Rather than a single, static grade, Minerva’s assessments reflect each student’s growing proficiency. Instructor’s formative feedback together with grades, gives students guidance they can use to improve and grow.
Curriculum Design
The MBacc curriculum was designed to span disciplines and contexts, equipping students with enduring, transferable skills and knowledge.
Class Experience
MBacc classes are taught using Fully Active Learning, which means that every student participates deeply in engaging class activities.
The Minerva Baccalaureate improves class engagement and learning outcomes, preparing students to be more effective leaders, innovators, and global citizens.
